Overcoming Challenges: My Journey

Early Trauma and Its Impact

I experienced trauma before, during, or after birth, affecting the left side of my brain, which controls speech and the right side of the body.

As a result:

Speech Impairment: I have difficulty speaking, and people often struggle to understand me due to my thickened tongue.

Physical Limitations:

I have little to no control over the right side of my body

This includes:

  1. A shortened right leg
  2. A weakened right arm

Educational Journey

Special Needs School:

Due to my disabilities, I attended a special needs school. However, the school did not adequately track my education.

Outcome: I left school unable to read or write.

Discovery: It was later found that I have dyslexia.

Higher Education

Accessing University: With the support and encouragement of friends and the well-being services at my university, I was able to pursue higher education.

Support System: Despite my initial illiteracy, I earned a degree with the assistance of support workers.

A Message of Empowerment

Limitations: You are only limited by the restrictions you place on yourself.

Opportunities: There are countless courses available at universities.

It is simply a matter of:

  1. Finding the right course
  2. Securing the necessary support for the chosen subject
